Music
This past week our 12 y.o. son Connor went to Logan to stay with Grandma and Grandpa Slade. Grandma Slade runs a vocal performance camp at USU for kids 12-18 who want to learn how to improve their singing and performing (hence the vocal performance name of the camp).
Connor, who we don't really ever expect to be a singing and dancing machine, decided he wanted to go to camp this year. It is his first year so we were curious how it would all turn out.
He ended up having a great time, meeting lots of new friends, learning some songs, a few sweet dance moves and we could actually see that he grew up a little bit. Not bad for a week at Grandma's eh?
We went to pick him up yesterday in Logan and saw the final performance. A shot of him dancing with the guys in his group...Connor is the one closest to the camera on the right who looks like he is laughing more than singing.
Abigail and I went up to the horses to check on Grandpa's construction project. She wanted to dip her feet in the creek which was running really high. We also got to see the footings for the workshop that will hopefully be done this fall.
Today we continued the musical theme and went to 'This is the Place State Park'. Grandma and Grandpa Slade are in a singing group called the Willow Valley Singers. They sing original versions of olde-tyme gospel songs. They have several other members, all of them from their neighborhood in Nibley, Utah. They sing and generally have a good time. In the audience were Polla's parents, her sister Kate and our family of four. I think that we made up about half of the audience.
Oh well...fame and fortune are never guaranteed.

Hey Mike! Just found your blog when I was trying to track down Polla again. I can't seem to keep your guys' info. Albert and I just browsed your blog-COOL! We love your pictures. It's fun to read a blog when you can kind of hear the person talking. Sounds just like you! I'll be in UT next month, hoping to see you guys. I'll call soon. -Elizabeth Plock
